Overview
Innovating Automotive Manufacturing at Ford Motor Company
Priyanka Das currently serves as a Manufacturing Controls Engineer at Ford Motor Company, where she leads the launch of Powertrain Transmission manufacturing lines across global production sites. One of her most notable contributions has been supporting the production of the Ford F-250 Super Duty Trucks, which earned the title of 2024 North America Truck of the Year. During her journey as a controls engineer, she played a key role in optimizing battery pack manufacturing lines, achieving a 15% reduction in cycle times and a 25–30% increase in overall throughput—delivering significant improvements in operational efficiency and cost savings. Her work is grounded in Lean Six Sigma, IoT integration, and advanced automation techniques to drive measurable manufacturing excellence.
At Ford, Priyanka is currently spearheading the design and deployment of an IoT-enabled real-time data integration system. This initiative is expected to transform manufacturing operations by enhancing early fault detection, minimizing manual inspections, reducing scrap, preventing unplanned downtime, and improving equipment lifespan and quality control.
Beyond her technical expertise, Priyanka is an active member of leading professional organizations, including Sigma Xi, American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), and the Society of Women Engineers (SWE). As a judge for SWE, she has evaluated scholarship applications to support young women pursuing STEM degrees. She has been invited to serve as an onsite judge at an AIAA conference, further contributing to academic excellence in engineering. She also has served as a judge the NASA Space Houston Conrad Challenge, Ohio State science day and the Global Recognition Awards. As an editorial board member and peer reviewer, she regularly evaluates research for top journals in engineering and innovation. A passionate advocate for women in STEM, she plays a leading role in Ford’s Women of Ford (WOF) chapter—mentoring students, organizing outreach events, and inspiring future engineers through hands-on learning and professional exposure.
